Rose Windross
Rose wrote and recorded the Cult underground rare groove classic Fairplay by Soul II soul which earned them a record deal and springboard to becoming the legends they are known as today.

Hailing from a musical family ROSE the ‘1st Lady of Soul II Soul’, not only represented their original sweet sound, but also introduced a flawless musical craft to touch the hearts of many. This naturally gift has been nurtured through efforts of perfection. The phenomenal voice of Rose Windross speaks for itself.
Whilst continually seeking out places to dance, Rose found herself at the infamous African Centre and became a regular, meeting Jazzie B the Founder. They struck up a friendship and after hearing her rip up the dance floor singing over the records he played, the obvious next step was for them to pen their own tune especially for the rave. Fairplay was the tune and the rest is history. Along with a number of successful collaborations Rose then entered the UK Garage scene with her brother, Norris ‘da boss’ Windross and recorded a number of classic tracks including ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Liferide’, ‘Flow’, ‘Destination Weekend’, and many more. You can also hear Rose’s voice on a number of British film soundtracks one of which is sung in opera and one French film
where she sings the French classic Le Vie En Rose.
In 2002 Jazzie B called Rose in for a meeting and suggested starting a tour with the sound system Which led to them touring all over the world and once again igniting the magic of Soul II Soul but this time Rose Windross performed all of the repertoire creating a new fanbase worldwide. She has performed for fans in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong, Brazil and all over Europe wowing wherever she was heard and leading Jazzie B to admit “Rose you are most definitely the best Female vocalist in the UK” Obviously brimming her with pride.
Rose is continuing to do what she does best and has added a new project to her already busy musical schedule. In June 2007 after a suggestion from her brother they started auditioning for musicians with the view to performing live across the world with new and classic material, the Band, Magic House. Rose Windross has the respect of every vocalist that has ever heard her bar none.
